Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold: Corona-proof media briefings

 

What we did

Lenovo is well known for its wide range of business and consumer laptops. Mid 2019 Lenovo presented its prototype of the world’s first laptop with a foldable screen, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. Since this is a world’s first, media were eager to test it.

It was very important for our client that media would receive all the necessary information before conducting a review of such a new device. Simply sending a device to journalists wasn’t an option. We were aware that journalists would want to test the device thoroughly and Lenovo was also keen to know responses and reactions in detail. So even though Covid-19 was still around, we decided to organize an exclusive small event in youEngine offices for Belgian media outlets.

 

Corona-proof media briefings

How did we do this? We organized individual time slots throughout the day for each journalist. We made sure that everything (including the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold itself) was disinfected properly before and after each session. We ensured every journalist wore a facemask and disinfected their hands before starting their hands-on. The day before we had also cleaned our offices thoroughly and organized the event in such a way that the journalists had to access to one corona-proof meeting room only, where their briefing took place.

Before conducting the hands-on review, Danny Amelryckx, Lenovo Product specialist, gave a short briefing about the device. Kanaal Z/Canal Z used this opportunity to create a news item that aired on tv later that day.

Afterwards we kept in touch with all journalists that had visited our offices and reviewed the ThinkPad X1 Fold to ensure they had all the necessary information to finish their in-depth articles.

 
 
 

What our client got

The highlight was the tv-coverage on Kanaal Z/Canal Z that has reached more than 350.000 viewers. The online video together with all news articles published about the ThinkPad X1 Fold launch event in our offices had a combined reach of 750.000 people. One of those articles was an outstanding review.

Thanks to our campaign we were able to fulfil the wishes of journalists by giving them a safe hands-on experience with the new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold during corona. youEngine has realized plenty of media coverage to introduce one of Lenovo’s important innovations to a large, yet targeted audience.
